Cheesecake is one of those traditional cakes baked in every home from time to time.
I go for cheesecakes mainly during the Christmas season. Sometimes, however, I also bake it even when there is no special occasion.
What I like the most to me are the various “fancy” cheesecakes, such as fruit, foam, cocoa cake and the likes. Traditional cheesecake is probably my least favourite type of cheesecake.
Accordingly, with today’s recipe I also went for a more special cheesecake, one combined with an extra ingredient. I chose Oreo cookies because I like them plus I included grapes, which are one of my favourite fruits.
Grape is almost the same as raisins, but not yet dried 🙂
Ingredients for Oreo cheesecake.
- 180 g of Oreo cookies
- 4 dag of margarine or unsalted butter
- 750 g of quark cheese
- 300 g of fromage frais (vanilla or natural flavour)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 11 dag of caster sugar
- 3 tablespoons of starch flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of grated lemon zest
- 200 g white grapes
- 9 Oreo cookies
How to make cheesecake with Oreo cookies.
Cake base: Line the baking tin with baking paper. Crush the Oreo cookies and mix them with dissolved margarine. Cover the base of the baking tin with the mixture, spreading it evenly and gently pressing it with your fingers.
Cheese filling: The cheese you use should have a creamy consistency. Buy quark cheese or mince it in a mincing machine.
Pour the eggs into a bowl, add caster sugar, grated lemon zest and vanilla extract. Whisk until fluffy.
Do not stop whisking and add the fromage frais, the quark cheese then finally the starch flour. Add the ingredients in small quantities and if you’re using a hand mixer, reduce the speed to the lowest one.
Cut the grapes in halves, remove the seeds and spread them over the Oreo mixture in the baking tin. The grapes should be placed next to each other with the skin up. Finally, pour the cheese mixture over the grapes. Place whole Oreo cookies on top of the cheesecake.
Put the cake in an oven preheated to 170 degrees Celsius. Bake for one hour.
After removing the cake from the oven, let it cool down for a few hours.
Good to know when making cheesecake.
I used a round-shaped baking tin with a diametre of 21 centimetres.
You can also cover the sides of the cake with Oreo cookies, not only the top.
Grapes are not an indispensable ingredient of this cake. If you only want a cheesecake without fruits, you can skip it.
