Quick cabbage salad
This quick cabbage salad is a great addition to any dinner. You can make it in 10 minutes, including slicing and grating the ingredients. I like this salad the most when it is prepared from young cabbage. Young cabbage has a fresh taste, softens faster under the influence of salt and is much easier to cut than cabbage that has already been stored for a while.
In addition to the cabbage, you will need carrots, dill, garlic, harissa and oil to make a cabbage salad. The salad is seasoned with salt and pepper to taste. In salads, I like to use powdered harissa, it is less often that I add harissa in the form of a paste.
Cabbage salad can be served with almost any type of meat. It works well with poultry, beef, pork and fish as well. Be sure to try this recipe for a quick cabbage salad, I think you will like it.

Ingredients for quick cabbage salad.
- 450 g cabbage
- 120 g carrot
- small bunch of dill
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of harissa
- 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil
- 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
- 1 big clove of garlic
How to make quick cabbage salad.
Clean the cabbage, cut it finely with a knife or shred it with a vegetable shredder. Put the shredded cabbage in a bowl, add salt and mix. While mixing, lightly crush the cabbage with your hands – that will allow the cabbage to merge with the salt faster and thus soften. Next, add finely grated carrot, chopped dill, pepper, harissa, mashed garlic and oil. Mix it. You can chill the finished salad in the refrigerator before serving.

Good to know when making quick cabbage salad.
Harissa is nothing more than chili pepper combined with garlic, coriander and cumin. So, if you don’t have Harissa at home, add dried chili flakes. You can also opt for freshly cut chili pepper.
The weight of the vegetables is given after peeling.

I’m a little late to the party here, but I’m finishing off the last of this and wanted to say thanks for the great recipe!! This stuff is addictive. First made this over the summer and it’s now one of our favorites. We like to up the amt of harissa (closer to 2-3t) because spicy cabbage slaw is amazzzing. Oh, and Sambal Oelek is a perfect substitution if you’re out of, or can’t find, harissa.
